Guitar Hero 3 'Groupies'
As Director of Design at Agora Games, I had the opportunity to design features for the Guitar Hero online community!
I wanted to give players of all skill levels a way to earn street cred on the site. I did this by designing Groupies essentially as a currency that rewards both skill and time played.
Players earn groupies when they:
Skilled players earn Groupies quickly, as more Groupies are awarded on more difficult game modes.
Concept
Any Guitar Hero player can feel like a rock star! And what do real rock stars have? Groupies!

Players earn groupies when they:
- Play a Song
- Pass a Song for the First Time
- Pass a Song on Expert
- Earn 5 Stars on a Song
- Play a Head-to-Head Match
- Win a Head-to-Head Match
- Win a Guitar Battle
- Play Co-op
- Refer Friends to GuitarHero.com
- ...and more!

Rocker Status
Groupies accumulate and determine your Rocker Status.
What's your Rocker Status? It's a forum title that improves at certain Groupie thresholds. Earn your way from Indie Rocker, to Rock Star, Guitar Hero, or even Guitar God!
